Online Tag Sale!

Well, I think it's about time to go through my things and figure out what I don't need so that I can clear up some room in my apartment. So sometime tonight I'm going to start my online tag sale on eBay, so once I post the link, feel free to pilfer!

Shoes and Discounts!

Oh man, I love having friends in high places, well if GAP is being considered. My friend totally hooked me up with her employee discount and I bought this gorgeous cream turtleneck sweater for like $10. That's completely criminal, I felt that I should have held a gun to the store clerk while I purchased it, that would make it feel more appropriate only paying $10.

And I finally got my Asics Onitsuka Tiger's in the mail this week. These are the Tai-Chi's and they are indeed so comfortable you would think you just did an entire days worth of tai chi. Here's a picture:

Plus, my Mom bought two pairs of Adidas flip flops by mistake, so I got a free pair of those as well! *happy shoe dance*

Help out the environment

The next time you're going to buy a new toothbrush or a razor, consider getting a spiffy recycled one from preserve by Recycline.

Remember, every little bit helps.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I got a nice spread this year, besides a big belly from Christmas cookies and lasagna. My family ponied up and bought me the Deluxe Scrabble Edition, the one where the board actually rotates and with the tile seperators so that they don't get flung everywhere. I'm now a "deluxe" nerd.

And also, I got bad breath, which is horrible and I'm trying to counteract that with giant tablets of Altoids, we'll see how that goes.

Nuspeak?

Or rather Nuspelynh...

Why was this developed? I'm scared.

Daily Mitch-ism

I hate turtlenecks. Wearing a turtleneck is like being strangled by a really weak guy. All day. Like, if you wear a turtleneck and a backpack, it's like a weak midget trying to bring you down.

Jesus has come back!

So what if he's a lizard now, big deal. He's Christ, he can roll how ever he chooses to roll, duh...

JFK to LHR booked

Alright, that's taken care of for only about $450 which rocks with all kinds of badassness.

On to LHR to GLA and buying my Oyster Card!

Plane Tickets

Alright, I think with my approaching bonus (hopefully, I'm crossing my fingers AHHHHH!!!) that it's finally time to stop surfing for prices online for plane tickets and actually buy them. Wish me luck!

Remember, I'm getting a round trip from JFK to LHR and then from LHR to GLA. So if you UKer's out there know of any deals from Heathrow to Glasgow, fess up! Help a Yank out!

Will it blend?

An iPod??

(and I'm uploading my blog to YouTube so that eventually I'll be able to post actual videos on here, but until then, just click the link, lazy!)

Daily Mitch-ism

When you go to a resturant on the weekends and it's busy so they start a waiting list, they say, "Dufresne, party of two, table ready for Dufresne, party of two." And if no one answers they'll say the name again: "Dufresne, party of two." But then if no one answers, they'll move on to the next name. "Bush party of three." Yeah, but what happened to the Dufresnes? No one seems to care. Who can eat at a time like this? People are missing. You people are selfish. The Dufranes are in someone's trunk right now, with duct tape over their mouths. And they're hungry. That's a double whammy. We need help. "Bush, search party of three. You can eat once you find the Dufresnes."

Dirty Pictionary

So yeah, I went over another friend's house tonight for a Hanukkah type celebration filled with latkas and drinks. However, this one was different because we played a rousing game of Dirty Pictionary.

All I'm going to say is look up what "toboggan" means sexually and you will be as equally as repulsed and entertained as I was.

I need to shower now (and roll up in the fetal position somewhere).

First Hanukkah Dinner!

Well, my friend's not exactly uber Jewish, so it was a rather loose Hanukkah dinner, but damn it, it counts! And it was definitely my first time actually celebrating the holiday.

And since I'm a recovering Catholic (and therefore I have no religion) it was really nice to see her light the Menorah and say the traditional prayers for the candle that signified tonight's passing. I always enjoy seeing others appreciate and actually keep up with their religious practices it kind of makes me feel like when I was a child going to church and actually got feelings of warmth and security (obviously before I was old enough and wise enough to know better).

We also helped her make the famous latkas (or potato pancakes, for you gentiles out there) which is great since I always like to help out with the cooking, I can't just watch people cook without feeling the need to help out in some way (that's the Italian in me I guess). I also got properly smashed on the many bottles of wine that were opened throughout the course of the night since my friend is also a bit of a wine collector and loves to share and teach about each of the wine's she fancies.

So yes, a very good Hanukkah indeed, just without the Manischewitz unfortunately.

Mail Call

Wooooooo! I finally got my passport today in the mail! *happy dance*

It's actually really well made and the paper inside is really pretty, but it's so excessively decorated with American stuff that it's like "OK, OK, I get it, you're an American, calm the fuck down already."

My picture actually came out pretty well too, surprisingly. Also, they told me like 4 to 8 weeks, but it came in about 3 weeks which is great since now I can lock into those airfare prices I found a while ago.

Cool Blog

I found this blog today and felt it's definitely worth sharing.

Awesome pictures.

Planning my UK Journey

So yes, it's somewhat official (about as official as I can say without actually having my passport or plane ticket in hand) but I'll be going to the UK from 2/26/07-3/8/06. And that's all! I can't afford to stay any longer you bastards! With the current exchange rate halving my money, that's all you are getting of me!

So in my spare time (or at work when I'm bored) I've been researching cool stuff to do while I'm there plus stuff I've always wanted to see like the obligatory touristy stuff: Loch Ness, Stonehenge, the West End, all that stuff. So I chanced upon this gorgeous looking tea room in Glasgow called The Willow Tea Room.

It looks like a great place to take in some tea and cake while staying in Glasgow. Hopefully I won't be let down, but you'll never know unless you try (or at least hear about someone else trying it).

Holiday Stretch

Well, rather the stretching one has to do with their wallet during this time of year. Good God! And not only for the obvious reasons of buying gifts, but just the social aspects as well like the cocktail parties and the holiday Happy Hours. It's not like you are expected to exchange gifts at these parties but it's the whole thing of bringing food and drinks or if you're going out to eat or for a couple drinks, this all adds up.

And yes, I'm wearing my Scrooge cap right now, my Cancerian penny-pinching tendencies are coming out. However, they'll go away the next time I get paid, I know myself by now and Cancer's need security which come from the financial kind most of the time.

The thing is I hate to admit that I'm kind of over spending because I always end up getting everything back whether it's by the actual gift exchange or just the emotional experience that I'm afforded. So I'm going to shut up and just wait for the karma to come back my way.

Friday Night

So a bunch of us decided to hop the Metro North Train down to South Norwalk so that we could catch the cover band The Touch playing over at the Black Bear Saloon and also so that drinking and merriment could ensue without having to decide who was sober enough to drive all the way back home at 2 AM.

The bar was excellent, very roomy and a lot of seating all around. The liquor was so-so, but they have some great food, not the average greasy bar food. The sound system was awesome as well and the beginning DJ was playing some OK tracks, you could tell by the average clientèle that this was definitely a top 40's bar, but when in Rome...

My only complaint was that The Touch showed up about 45 minutes late, then when they finally decided to actually start playing, they crapped out about 2 songs in and were complaining about the sound. So after another half hour of DJ mixes and a couple shots later for the band, they decided to play again. Overall, I don't see what the fuss is all about, I've seen far better cover bands perform and they actually cared about their audiences way more than these guys. It was if they were too cool to be playing here or whatever.

Just a reminder, if you are a cover band that means that you don't play you're own music, you are a COVER BAND, know your place in the realm of music, OK.

So anyway, here are some pictures from the night:

Here's me in the center with my friends Melissa and Walter.
Here's me again (to the left) with my friend Melissa.
And here's another one of me, this time getting Jiggy wit it (on the left) with my friends Sandra and Dana.

Now, I do not take responsibility for getting up on top of the bar and dancing, that was not me or any of my doing. For the record, the female bartender decided she'd take random girl's near the bar and help them up on top. So this older woman grabs my arm with the Grip of Death and refuses to let go, so I get a friend to steady a bar stool and proceed to get up and dance on the bar. Whatever, no big whoop. You only live once, right?
